Technological University of the Shannon is a multi-campus university spread across seven campuses throughout Ireland’s Midwest and Midlands region. Technological University of the Shannon is a QS* 5 Star university, having achieved the highest possible number of stars to become one of the top-rated universities in the world. Strengths span polymers and advanced manufacturing, biotechnology and food, digital/AI and immersive media, sustainability/circular bioeconomy, and health & sport science. Through Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateways (e.g., APT and Shannon ABC), TUS offers pilot-to-industrial testbeds, contract R&D, and routes to commercialization, partnering with SMEs and multinationals on EU and national projects.
Technological University of the Shannon is the coordinator, overseeing workplan, budget, risk, ethics, and partner integration. Technological University of the Shannon drives the synthesis of bio-based, biodegradable polyethylene and polyesters from biomass waste and steers their translation into four demonstrators: food packaging, textile packaging, agricultural mulch, and crop-protection membranes.
